The South Padre Island (SPI) Birding and Nature Center (BNC) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to delivering a first-class environmental experience and to educate the public regarding the unique ecology of SPI and the Laguna Madre area - specifically its wetlands, birds, plants, insects, and the natural ecosystems. Enjoy the special nature and habitats of the SPIBNC through a half-mile boardwalk that meanders through 43 acres of brackish and saltwater marshes, island scrub brush and freshwater ponds. You can expect to see a great diversity of coastal birds, fish, crabs, turtles, and even American Alligators!
Amenities: Five shaded bird blinds with benches make for comfortable wildlife viewing along the boardwalk. Brand new building with a five (5) story observation tower, an auditorium for programs and guest lectures, and interactive exhibits describing the nature and ecology of the SPI/Laguna Madre Area.
