Description:

Look at some fun and interesting studies of bird behavior and how ornithological studies are useful in bird conservation, presented by Dr. Timothy Brush.

This talk will cover the science of ornithology--what is it, what kinds of studies do ornithologists do, and how can their studies be useful in bird conservation. Also, we will look at some fun and interesting studies of bird behavior.

Dr. Tim Brush is a professor of biology at the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley campus in Edinburg. At UT Pan American and now UT Rio Grande Valley, he has enjoyed studying the ecology and conservation of birds of the riparian corridor along the lower Rio Grande, with a particular interest in changing bird distributions and effects of habitat restoration. He teaches biology courses at UTRGV and assists with bird-banding studies. In addition to numerous scientific articles, he published a book Nesting Birds of a Tropical Frontier, the Lower Rio Grande Valley of Texas, in 2005.
